Notes for Amos JONES by Annette Lockett:8
In searching the records for Amos, it found that he was buried from Peoples in Lemoore. His wife had taken on the debt for the best funeral possible at the time. However, the debt was never paid. A search of the court records in Hanford provided no information as to a death certificate. In talking with Uncle Bill (Willie Jones) I was informed that he died in Tulare and his body was brought back to Lemoore for burial. This has not been confirmed as I have not had a chance to search the Tulare County records.
Uncle Bill (willie David Jones) seems to be the only one that had any real recollections of Amos that I have run across. When asking him about him about him, he stated that Amos would "borrow" his sunday-go-to-meeting clothes when he had a date, leaving Uncle Bill with nothing to wear, and thus having to stay home.
Bill also stated that he and Amos came to Los Angeles in the 1920s and were bit players in a silent movie. a western called "Arizona Nights". They had the parts of Indians |
